Cookie Policy
Last updated: 23 April 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on a user's device by the browser when visiting a website. They allow the website to recognise the device on subsequent visits, remember preferences, and operate securely. This Policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage and session identifiers.
2. How Stomaton uses cookies
Stomaton uses a limited number of cookies and similar technologies strictly for the secure operation of the Platform and for remembering user preferences. Stomaton does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
3. Essential cookies
Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled without affecting the Platform's operation. The following essential cookies are in use:
- Authentication session cookie: set by the authentication provider when a user signs in; expires on sign-out or within fifteen (15) minutes of inactivity.
- Session refresh cookie: allows the authentication session to be renewed without requiring re-entry of credentials; rotated regularly.
- Locale preference cookie (NEXT_LOCALE): stores the user's language choice; persists for one year.
5. Analytics cookies
Stomaton does not use analytics cookies at the time of this Policy. If analytics tooling is introduced in future, it will be opt-in through a consent banner and this Policy will be updated accordingly.
5. Security Cookies
We use Arcjet to protect the platform against automated abuse, scraping, and credential attacks. Arcjet may set short-lived technical cookies or read request metadata to distinguish legitimate users from automated traffic. These cookies are strictly necessary for platform security and cannot be disabled without losing access.
4. Preference technologies
The Platform uses the URL query-string and browser local storage to preserve filter and display choices during a session. These are not cookies in the strict sense but are disclosed here for transparency.
7. Consent and management
Essential cookies are set without consent as permitted by Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC and equivalent local law. Non-essential cookies, if introduced, will be set only after explicit prior consent given through the Platform's consent banner, which will offer granular choices and an equally easy means to withdraw consent. Users may also manage or delete cookies through their browser settings.
8. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
In addition to the controls we provide on the platform, most browsers let you manage cookies through their settings. You can configure your browser to refuse all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or alert you when a cookie is set. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the platform from functioning, including staying signed in. For more information, see the help pages of your browser vendor.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, applicable law, or our operations. Material changes will take effect on posting, and we will use reasonable means to notify you, such as in-app notice or a banner. Review this page periodically.
